One Day Seminar on “Open Access Resources“ was organised by Allama Iqbal Library, University of Kashmir in the Ibn Khaldun Auditorium on 18th December, 2012 to create greater
understanding about the benefits of Open Access Resources in scholarly communication an
d to highlight different Open Access Resources in various subject fields. The seminar was attended by the University Officials, Academics, Research Scholars and students, besides various College Principles and Librarians of colleges and other universities of Kashmir division. There was no registration fee and all the arrangements were made by Allama Iqbal Library. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir. The welcome address and introduction of the seminar was given by Dr. Abdul Majid Baba, University Librarian, University of Kashmir. The key note address was delivered by Prof. Wajih Ahmad Alvi, University Librarian, Islamic University of Science and Technology. Prof. Alvi highlighted the transition of knowledge from handwriting, printing to skywriting. Prof. Zafar Ahmad Reshi, Registrar, University of Kashmir presented an impressive Power Point Presentation (PPT) on “Quality of Open Access Journals” and he highlighted the veritable revolution of scientific journal publishing enabled by the emergence of the World Wide Web.
The Allama Iqbal Library in collaboration with Adbi Markaz Kamraz organised a function where book titled “Wuchuk Wath” was released which is authored by Dr Shahida Shabnum who has been awarded Sanskriti award for her literary activities, was released by the KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad.
Seminar on “ The relevance of Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) in the present day Kashmir organised by the Kashmir centre for Development Studies in collaboration with Allama Iqbal Library at 1:30 p.m. at Ibn Khaldun Auditorium .
Book Release function “ Sheikhul Alam-Kashmir Revisited” by Prof. Farooq Fayaz jointly organised by Adbee Markaz Kamraz & Allama Iqbal Library at Ibn Khaldun Auditorium at 11:00 A.M. The Function was Presided by: His Excellency Shri N.N. Vohra, The Governor of J&K State and Chancellor, University of Kashmir

Allama Iqbal Library, University of Kashmir in collaboration with Ahad Zargar Memorial Research Foundation organises “Book Release and Panel Discussion on “Ta’run Ghari” by Zareef Ahmad Zareef at Ibn Khaldun Auditorium on May 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
The One day Seminar on “ Maulana Mohammad Sayyeed Masoodi’s contribution in Educational, Religious and Social Set up of Kashmir “ was organised by the Allama Iqbal Library in the Ibn Khaldun Auditorium.The seminar was attended by large number of people belonging to various walks of life including intellectuals, scholars and Ulemas etc. The participants presented several papers on the great scholar Maulana Masoodi and paid rich tributes for his contribution in propagating the basic principles of Islam among masses. Various speakers who highlighted his contribution on the occasion called him a unique politician of Kashmir and lauded his efforts for establishing Kashmir University, Iqbal Library and Madinat-ul-Uloom in the state.The Seminar was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad while Sheikh Ghulam Rasool (Ex- Chief Secretary of J&K State) presided over the event. Columnist, GN Khayal presented his presidential address on the occasion. Others who spoke on the occasion include, Dr Javed Iqbal, Prof Noor Ahmad, AR Kondu, Tahir Sayeed, Rajinder Singh Raina and Abdul Rehman Mir.Besides the seminar a photo exhibition on Maulana Masoodi’s biography was also organised in the newly established Allama Iqbal Library Meeting Hall.
Allama Iqbal Library Meeting Hall was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Jenab Sheikh Ghulam Rasool (Ex-Chief Secretary, J&K State) in Presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir Prof. Talat Ahmad and Mr. Reyaz Rufai, University Librarian on 30th October 2012.

Under the banner of “Meet the Eminent Programme” a panel discourse with Nonagenarian Poet Saifee Sopori followed by release of “Sahra Sahra (In wilderness)” his poetic collection was organised by the Allama Iqbal Library in the Ibn Khaldun Auditorium.
During the discourse, eminent scholars, writers and columnists presented their reviews on the book and shed light on the poetic philosophy of Saifi Sopori whose first Urdu poem was published in Daily Khidmat in 1942.
The panel discourse was chaired by the hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir Prof Abdul Wahid Qureshi and attended by noted academics including Professor Bashir Ahmed Nehvi , Professor Muhammad Aslam, Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Assistant Dean DSW KU Showkat Shafi and Saifee Sopori. Earlier Librarian Allama Iqbal Library, Riyaz Rufai presented the welcome address and talked about the importance of such events for the society as a whole.
