E-Resources centre located at the 2nd Floor of Allama Iqbal Library is a very vibrant and vital centre of the Library. It provides access to various online resources including e-journals, e-books and a number of databases. Besides the online resources, journals and current periodicals including newspapers and magazines in print format relating to various fields are also available for the users in the centre. The centre is fully air-conditioned and is equipped with 36 Networked Computer Systems. Personal laptops or Smartphones can also be connected via Wi-Fi Internet Connectivity in the centre. The calm and cozy atmosphere in the centre has evoked a good response from the user community.
Allama Iqbal Library has been amongst first fifty (50) University Libraries of India selected by the University Grants Commission for free online access to peer reviewed scholarly journals (published from all over the world) under its erstwhile UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium. Since 2015, Allama Iqbal Library has been one of the active members of e-ShodhSindhu Consortium for Higher Education E-Resources which is being executed by INFLIBNET Centre and has been formed by MHRD, Govt. of India as a result of merging of three consortia initiatives, namely UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, NLIST and INDEST-AICTE Consortium.
In addition to above, the centre also houses the following important Labs for students, scholars and faculty members:-
ETD Lab (Electronic Theses & Dissertations): The Centre has a well equipped and networked ETD Lab. which provides a platform for the registered research scholars of University of Kashmir to upload their electronic version of Ph.D. theses on Shodhganga Repository hosted and maintained by the INFLIBNET Centre and make it available to the entire scholarly community in an open access environment.
Lab. for Visually Impaired Students A well equipped Lab. for visually impaired students of University of Kashmir has been established in the E-Resources centre. The Lab. is equipped with following important softwares and gadgets:
a) JAWS (Job Access With Speech) : A Screen Reading Software for visually impaired students
b) Kurzweil TTS software: Text to speech software to ease and enhance visually impaired students’ reading, writing, and learning experiences.
c) Zoom Office software for Zoom-Ex- Portable scanner/reader/magnifier.
d) Angel Pro Karishma DAISY Player: Angel PRO is a talking assistive technology device specially designed for the Visually Challenged that could be utilized in
digital library to issue and read the e-books in various formats including DAISY
