Allama Iqbal Library has been amongst first Fifty (50) University Libraries of India selected by the University Grants Commission in its first phase that began in the year 2004 for free online access to peer reviewed scholarly journals (published from all over the world) under its erstwhile UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium. The UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, one of the largest consortium in India, was launched in December 2003 by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the then President of India to support education and research in universities. The consortium turned out to be a solution for university libraries that had been discontinuing subscription to scholarly journals because of “Serial Crisis”.

Since 2015, the Allama Iqbal Library has been one of the active members of e-ShodhSindhu Consortium (eSS) for Higher Education E-Resources, Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India which is being executed by INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar and has been formed by MoE (formerly MHRD), Govt. of India as a result of merging of three consortia initiatives, namely UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, NLIST and INDEST-AICTE Consortium.

The e-resources, which are part of the centrally financed and controlled eSS programme, are available at https://ess.inflibnet.ac.in/eres.php?memID=41 and can be viewed and used in practically all subject areas.

The Allama Iqbal Library subscribes to a number of electronic resources, which are systematically arranged on the library's website at https://ail.uok.edu.in/ .These e-resources can be accessed both within university campuses and off-campus using the library's Remote Access (Off-Campus Access) services.
