It is my privilege to introduce Allama Iqbal Library, University of Kashmir, Srinagar to you. Allama Iqbal Library is “Heart of Academic Life” in the University. Allama Iqbal Library is the largest library in the Jammu and Kashmir having Seventy two (72) seminar libraries attached with different university departments, centres, institutes and campuses. Allama Iqbal Library along with its network of libraries houses more than 8 lac collection in variety of forms and languages across disciplines covering almost all branches of knowledge and catering academic needs of more than 15,000 members consisting of students, scholars, teachers and other staff members. It is indeed a treasure trove; offeringa wealth of resources and services to our esteemed members. Library also owns collection for visually impaired patrons. Besides, in-house collection, Allama Iqbal Library has a wide range of electronic/digital resources, inhouse and accessible through eShodhSindhu and subscription model. Library has three browsing centres having more than 100 computer systems for students, scholars, teachers and visually impaired patrons to access these resources. Library offers remote access facility to access all online resources via remote access software Knimbus.

Library has a good number of sections to cater the information needs of patrons. The noteworthy are 24X7, Career Corner, International Resource Cell, Theses and Dissertations, Book Bank, Text Books, Rare Books, Manuscripts, Reference and Visually Impaired Patrons (VIP) sections. Besides, upgrading the collections of these sections, Allama Iqbal library will build special collection like Noble Laurate, Booker Prize, Field Medal, Mental Health, Personality Development and Spiritual collections for its users.

In addition to our extensive collection, Allama Iqbal Library has a dedicated team of library professionals supported by IT professionals, committed to providing you with personalized assistance and guidance. Whether you require research assistance, help navigating our databases, or simply a quiet space to study, we are here to support you in your academic endeavours.

Allama Iqbal Library will start offering a good number of innovative services from April 2024 for its patrons like Reading Support Services (e.g. Book Talk, Meet the Author) Research Support Services (e.g. Literature Search, Citation Support), Publication Support Services (e.g. Publisher finder, Journal finder), Current Awareness Services (e.g. JTOCs, MTOCs, Book Bell), Tailored information Services (e.g. SDI), Document Delivery Services (e.g. Book on Call, Books on Wheels), Resources Sharing Services (Cross-Departmental Library Access Service, Inter Library Loan) and many more. Allama Iqbal Library will also revive services and functions like Meet the Eminent, Inter Library Loan, Book Release, Book exhibitions, etc.
